United States Transit Funding, Inc. is pleased to announce that it is helping the private and public passenger-carrier transportation and transit industry with the development and procurement of grant funding through the United States Department of Homeland Security.

A little over two weeks ago, both bodies of United States Congress passed and the President of the United States of America signed the United States Department of Homeland Security Appropriations budget on a bi-partisan basis in order for federally-funded programs to be a part of the Department’s local and state programs needed to prevent homeland terror attacks through all modes of transportation.

United States Transit Funding, Inc. announced in February 2015 that it became a strategic partner of the Department of Homeland Security through its iPassenger© mobile application product line in order to enhance passenger and public safety by providing geo-located, real-time information, including road, weather and law enforcement information. Please Read Here How and Why Our Relationship with the Department of Homeland Security Was Enhanced.

“We are prepared to assist private and public companies and entities to enhance passenger and public safety throughout the United States,” Barry Lewis, CEO of United States Transit Funding, Inc. said. “We have been working diligently for more than a full calendar year to prepare the industry and re-demonstrate the importance of this program and not take it for granted.”

Lewis said that there have been consulting companies who have taken advantage of this very important program without ensuring that programmatic objectives and outcomes met the National Preparedness Goals as well as taking advantage of the funding secured by grantees without receiving permission from the “grantee”.

“United States Transit Funding, Inc., in addition to national advocacy groups like the American Bus Association and the American Public Transit Association, have continued to ensure that this Homeland Security program was re-instated”, Lewis said. “As a part of that effort, we have also had to provide information, as a part of whistleblower laws and regulations, where “bad actors” have been reported based on complaints within the industry because there have been violations regarding the utilization of grant funds that were awarded but did not follow federal reporting and acquisition guidelines. To that point, we are here to ensure that these very important funding programs receive the form of expertise to ensure that tax dollars are properly utilized in accordance to funding guidelines and with the explicit permission of a grant applicant.”

Lewis added that the leadership of United States Transit Funding, Inc. will ensure that each client will receive the necessary guidance to ensure that transit security funding programs demonstrate the objectives and outcomes to ensure that funding is maintained year-over-year.

“We are confident that each client of United States Transit Funding, Inc. will receive the best possible guidance needed so that DHS funding is both effective and efficient through the eligible use of proceeds,” Lewis said. “We have been prepared for this day for quite some time and will continue to be prepared to help the industry enhance passenger and public safety and mitigate dangers from domestic terror threats.”
